Kola is a for-impact, urban mobility company based in Melbourne, Australia. Through our upcycled, completely refurbished, and fully equipped City eBikes, we are working to enhance lives, and deliver cleaner, greener cities. Our ultimate goal is to see communities transformed through the proliferation of high utility eBikes that don’t cost the earth!
We are striving to make Kola eBikes as good for the world as possible. We do this by converting high quality, existing bikes into City eBikes with all the features you need to do more, everyday, by bike. Every Kola bike comes fully equipped with the essentials you need to make all your short trips a breeze.
So come along for the ride, and help us save the world.
One bike at a time.
The Kola team will contact you to discuss the options and help you decide on the best eBike to suit to your needs.
Once our fleet comes to life in early 2023, we will deliver the eBike to your work or home and provide you with a one hour induction of your new Kola eBike.
To ensure the security of your Kola, every bike comes with an integrated locks. All Kola bikes are covered by our third-party Rider Rescue. Rider Rescue is available Australia wide, in areas where Uber and 13Cabs operate, just call them on +61 3 8376 888 and let them know you have a Kola eBike and need rescuing! How’s that for peace of mind! And f you have service and maintenance issues, we will always come to you so you can get back on your eBike as soon as possible.
We understand that things change, and you may not want your Kola anymore. No problem - just contact us and we will collect it at the end of that calendar month. Or contact us for a different eBike.
Riders' mental and physical wellbeing is enhanced through the use of our eBikes. Trips are easy and joyful and lack the inherent cost and stress of other forms of transport such as congestion, fuel, tolls, and parking. Riders engage with people and the world around them in ways that rarely happen from inside a vehicle.
Communities are deeply enhanced by our silent and emissions-free ebikes. Across the world, communities are recognising that urban form and urban mobility must change for the better. And the Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated this transition resulting in communities that teem with life and the ting of bike bells.
Ebike subscription
Kola will offer a fully maintained City eBike for a fraction of the cost of purchasing a City eBike.
Lowering the barriers so that everyone can experience the joy of riding an eBike. You pay a low
weekly fee and you get to use a bike for as long as you need. When you don’t want it anymore (or you
wear it out through joyous use) it will be replaced, with the original bike being refurbished and
recycled as much as possible.
This not only diverts bikes from waste, it means that if the bike is not being used you can return
it without the hassle of having to sell a second-hand bike.
Ebike fleets
We place fleets with organisations who are seeking to improve employee health, wellbeing and or experience of work. Fleets of eBikes are placed with organisations so that employees can experience the eBike joy. Employees who love it (and most of them in our experience do!) can then subscribe.
We are Chris and James - long-term friends, passionate about business for good, and formed a working relationship during the COVID-19 pandemic on two different continents. We started Kola to give people a chance to experience the joy of riding an eBike without having to worry about their impact on the environment, a large cost outlay, or the stress and hassle of maintaining it.
Founded during James’ time living in Prague, our name, “Kola” means “wheels” in Czech. While Australians love the outdoors and riding bikes, we felt that the bike industry was often dominated by the “lycra-brigade” and hyper-consumerism. So we figured this was an opportunity to do something different.
With our combined backgrounds in environmental sustainability and impact investing, we saw an opportunity to recycle unused and discarded mechanical bikes back to life. We fully refurbish and electrify these bikes, turning waste into a resource and demonstrating the power of the circular economy.
We now want Australians to experience the joy of riding an eBike in their everyday life.
Thanks for your interest in Kola. We are working hard to bring our eBike fleet to life in early 2023. You are in the right place if you want any of the following:
